In 1957, Bruno Farincelli emigrated from Italy to settle in Pittsburgh, USA. He started working for an automotive components manufacturer: Trevoli Metal Parts Inc.

In 1964, Bruno saw a need in the market for high quality spherical machined parts - Snodo Sferici Radiale. He borrowed money from his employer, bought the necessary equipment & sublet 400sq yards of factory and started the SSR brand.

SSR components specialised in subcontracts for automotive OE parts.

In 1969 SSR components, bought out Trevoli Metal Parts Inc.

In 1978 SSR Bearings Inc was formed as a subsidiary, manufacturing spherical plain bearings & housings for the after market.

In 1981 SSR bearings became a separate entity when its parent company was absorbed into a larger automotive corporation.

In 1997 SSR invested $260 million in upgrading its production facility in Pittsburgh to produce spherical plain bearings initially for the American market. The factory now exports all over the world.

Today SSR has grown into an international brand, meeting, exceeding & setting international standards in the field of Motion Control.
